The Sister Has Style Blog: Have spare time? Volunteer it!
Far from being something we do just to add experience to our resume, carrying out volunteer work is a rewarding and beneficial way to invest our time. Volunteer work essentially means offering our time and effort without receiving payment, so it can be considered a form of charity and may be ideal for those who are not in a position to make financial charitable donations.
Volunteer work can take many forms, being literally any work that there is benefit in carrying out. Benefit may be directly for the person or group you are working for, or indirectly, they may be an individual or group who benefit others. Work can be formal, which may be the case if you volunteer with an institution, hospital or non-profit company, or it can be less formal which may be the case if you volunteer to help an individual, or if the volunteer job is a on-off.
