May Allah preserve our leaders Imam Zaid shakir and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, and reward them tremendously for their commitment to the Muslim community worldwide. We should be asking for their forgivenenss for the burdens we put on them, instead of nitpicking and naking false accusations against them!

Imam Zaid did not have to spend his precious time to explain himself at all, yet he still did out of his immense kindness. If only people stopped and thought for a second before condemning and making slanderous comments against others, particularly the ‘Ulama.

Yes, may Allah elp us all!

It’s been certainly a decade or more since I first met Shaykh Hamza and Imam Zaid, their passion and deep understanding of the world that we live in has always amazed me, and still does.

They have dealt with an array of issues that effect us all; both as Muslims and as human beings. Highlighting deep concerns and issues with regards to consumerism, politics, crisis in the middle-east, environment, role of religion in the world, cross platform dialogues, psychological state of human being etc… I could go on.
They have consistently addressed subjects that have been very relevant and much needed at that time and place. Again, with the death of Michael Jackson it has been relevant to address the passing of this soul.
Islam teaches us to be human beings, I think sometimes we as Muslims think that we own paradise, and have a say on who will enter it or not.
Our criticism of our teachers is largely unacceptable, as more often or not it is more to do with our own ego trips than making any relevant point or positive contribution.
When I read the comments earlier this afternoon of RHM (whoever that is), I was deeply disappointed.
If we really have nothing positive or inspiring to say I would really suggest people remain silent and increase their remembrance of Allah.
Some advice from our dearest Messenger (saaws) -
Abu Hurayrah relates that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak a good word or remain silent. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his neighbour. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest.” [ Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim ]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Indeed a servant will speak a word pleasing to Allah that he thinks to be insignificant, but because of it Allah raises him by many degrees. And indeed a servant will speak a word displeasing to Allah that he thinks to be significant, but because of it, He will consign him to the Hellfire.” [ Sahîh al-Bukhârî ]
How many hearts have we broken, how many lives have we wrecked, how many souls have we misguided through our ill use of our tongues?
Where’s the love that Muslims are supposed to have?
Perhaps a look in the mirror needs to be administer to “make that change!” from the constant state of hate, anger, darkness, frustration and rage.
If only we knew the incredible hard work our Shayukh do, there would be little or no opportunity for anyone to write such churlish essays. I’ve known Shaykh Hamza and Imam Zaid for years and truly have seen at first hand their passion, commitment and sacrifices in bringing people together, not only Muslims but also people of all faiths and traditions, bringing them back to the middle way of peace, harmony, tolerance and patience.
Truly they are not “Rock stars”, but are our shining “Lights” sent by Allah to be followed in order to remove the parasite of darkness from our hubris filled egos, into the Light of Allah’s Majesty where NO darkness can remain.
May Allah continue to protect all our teachers near or far, and save humanity for narrow-minded people who choose to waste time rather than to engage themselves in saving the whole humanity.

In the end our return is to Allah, Lord of the Heavens and the Earth.

I have learnt allot from the above. Unfortunatelty, recently there has been a convention of accusing other muslims, especially ulama, of allegations that may be baseless. I think Imams in Masjeds should emphasize more on Islamic values such as, husn il Dhan to our brothers and sisters.
