Don’t slam Carter; Israel’s grip is real | ajc.com
Jewish self-righteousness is taken for granted among ourselves to such an extent that we fail to see what’s right in front of our eyes. It’s simply inconceivable that the ultimate victims, the Jews, can carry out evil deeds. Nevertheless, the state of Israel practices its own, quite violent, form of apartheid with the native Palestinian population.

Muslims “Get” Globalization, But Does It Get Them?
The last half-century has seen an unmistakable rise in income levels and life-expectancy in Muslim-majority countries, but their citizens have a negative impression of globalization. International business consultant Mehmood Kazmi attributes this antagonism to the widening chasm of misunderstanding in Muslim-Western relations. With a history of cultural domination over the West followed by resource exploitation under colonialism, the Muslim world views the liberalization of financial, trade and information flows with suspicion. Globalization of the media has allowed biased perceptions to travel rapidly to the masses, opening the way for further misunderstanding. For example, Kazmi questions why US distributors decline broadcasting English-language Al Jazeera, while Muslim countries broadcast CNN, BBC and other western news channels. While economic and social benefits can often placate the critics of globalization in many developing countries, the author argues that the burdens of cultural sensitivity and political inequity may need to be prioritized before the Muslim world welcomes globalization. For understanding and relationships to improve, the exchange of ideas must go in two directions. – YaleGlobal

The Need For Wisdom and Knowledge
Fath al-Mawsuli (Allah have mercy on him) said:
Doesn’t a sick person who is deprived of food and drink die?… It is the same with the heart: if it is kept from wisdom and knowledge for three days, it dies….”
Imam Ghazali (Allah have mercy on him) comments:
He has spoken the truth, for the nourishment of the heart is knowledge and wisdom, and it is through them that the heart has life.
[Ghazali, Ihya’ `Ulum al-Din, 1.7]

Browser Smackdown: Firefox vs. IE vs. Opera vs. Safari
People may be passionate about their favorite sports team, but if you really want to get them fired up, ask what Web browser they use.
There’s the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” crowd who tend to stick with the browser that’s included with their operating system — Microsoft’s Internet Explorer on Windows and Apple’s Safari on the Mac. There are the “I’ve just gotta be me” folks who prefer lesser-known browsers, such as Opera from Opera Software. And there are the “live free or die” open-source true believers who champion Mozilla’s Firefox above its commercial counterparts.
Then there are those people who simply demand the best browsing experience there is. They’ll defend their favorite browser to the death because they think it kicks all the other browsers’ butts in terms of elegance, features, security and so on. But if a better option comes along, they’ll happily switch and speak out just as loudly for their new browser of choice. At Computerworld, we fall into this camp, always looking for the Next Great Browser.

DeenPort - Iffat Younus Reports That Faraz Rabbani Said This:
“Before you act, consider what you are doing and why; whom you are acting for? Stir up a sense of thankfulness, a sense of longing, hope, fear, slavehood. Bring to mind the majesty, tremendousness, beauty and mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. And then begin your action. So that moment before you act, the moment in which you turn your heart to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is of the greatest moments of your life. And if we make ourselves accustomed to keep striving to turn to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in those precious moments we’ll find that our lives will be coloured with the dye of spiritual favour from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, we’ll find our hearts and our entire life being enveloped in divine assistance and divine favour. And we’ll find light and serenity and contentment in our life.” [DeenPort Messages]
